PR Update

Google has been going through a Page Rank update — rebuilding the index. Have you noticed any changes? Have you seen your website go up or down?

Roughly every 3–4 months they take a snapshot of page rank values and export them so that the new values are visible in the Google Toolbar. Most data centers that are running the newer infrastructure have the recent snapshot of PageRank now. It may take at least 1–2 months for the other data center IP’s to get the newer infrastructure in some way.

They updated PR and then it was like they were not happy with the changes and it reverted back. Tonight it looks like the rankings are back to the new update. Cross fingers it stays this time.

Check it out — how are you doing?

SEO - Content

Anyone who has read this blog before knows that I talk about SEO, a lot!

There are many different ‘avenues’ of SEO, but tonight I want to talk briefly about Content.

Fresh and original content helps in many ways. Of course the search engine bots love it, which helps your ranking, but this also helps your visitor/customer/client. When you help them they will come back to see what is going on with your site. When you update, and update well by paying attention to their movement and their needs (stats — but that is another blog), you will find your traffic will increase.

When I say “update well” I mean that you help your visitor/customer/client to immediately know they have:

- found the right website for their needs
- find the right links to reach their goals

To name only a couple of critical reasons.
