Academy Awards 'Red Carpet' & Social Media

I watched a program tonight that was on prior to the Academy Awards program called the ‘Red Carpet’.  It was the normal ‘meet and great’ of stars.  You know… who they were with, what they were wearing, etc. One big thing that really stood out to me was that the interviewers / reporters talked to the stars BUT asked questions that had been posted on Facebook and Twitter — and — not one even flinched.  Wow, what a change from even last year.

So you have to know that if social media has hit the Oscar ‘red carpet’ you best be hitting social media in your business!

Many congrats to the winners Jeff, Sandra and Kathryn — right on!!

BTW — did you get a look at some of those dresses???

Google & the Winter Olympics in Vancouver B.C.

I watched a news report tonight and it said, and showed, Google Street View using a snowmobile to show what the slopes are like in Whistler for the Olympics.  You can actually do a ski run, see a turn as an Olympic skier does and much more.  Very exciting!

You can also see the view from above, see the ski runs and so much more.  Check it out here.

The Winter Olympics in Vancouver & A Client Connection

My client, Susie Hastings, and I have worked together for 5 years now.  She has proudly told me about her son’s Chris & Jeff Hastings (ski jumping).  I was thrilled to learn they are both in Whistler covering the Men’s ski jumps  What a proud Mum!

Susie, as a Coach, refers to her Olympic connection:

We all know that an Olympic athlete flourishes under the keen eye of a coach – they discover the potential of the athlete, build on their strengths, celebrate victories, lift spirits when the athletes are discouraged, they guide, cheerlead, provide mentorship and on the occasion a good morning wake up call. They believe in the athlete – even when the athlete doesn’t believe in themselves. As a mother of two Olympians, Susan applauds coaches, be it sports or life in general.

You can read more about Susie and her coaching program here:

Hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics.  Much more to come.

Business in 2009, The Feng Shui Way

I subscribe to many newsletters to keep up to date of what is going on in many areas of the virtual world. One newsletter I received this week struck a cord with me and I wanted to share it with you.

This is from Feng Shui Truth:

There heading is “BUSINESS in 2009 is “Collaborative, Mindful and Proactive” ENERGY, that serves the greater good of All.”

Sounds a lot like what is going on with the newly elected President, Barack Obama.

They go on to say, and I will quote:
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lesson #1: Companies and entrepreneurs who build reliable teams, “vendor networks” and strategic alliances accelerate the growth of their businesses faster, better and with less effort.
Lesson #2: Companies and entrepreneurs who willingly accept “feedback” from their target market accelerate the growth of their business faster, better and with less effort.
Lesson #3: Companies and entrepreneurs who “honk” at their team members, staff and vendors with “encouragement,” accelerate their personal productivity and business growth, exponentially … FAST.
Lesson #4: Companies and entrepreneurs who protect and educate their teams’ and clients’ in challenging times, “grow” their businesses even during economic down-swings.
Lesson #5: Companies and entrepreneurs who show COMPASSION and SUPPORT the companies and people they serve, will survive and thrive (like Geese) in this “new world order” of collaborative CO-CREATION.
~~~~~~~~~~
There is more but I highly suggest you actually sign up for this newsletter. It is always full of powerful energies (and no, I do not get anything out of this other then the joy of sharing).
