I had a Dropbox Premium account when I received the email (below). I didn’t need the premium account any longer, the free account would do (size wise). Since my credit card had expired I was happy to read they would simply downgrade the account.
It didn’t happen.
A company does not have the right to charge an expired credit card, which Dropbox did.
As well, the attached email from Dropbox clearly states the credit card had expired and the account would be downgraded if the card information was not updated. I did not update the credit card information and expected it would be downgraded to the free account level. It was not.
I requested a refund. Their statement:
‘Due to the policies outlined in our Terms of Service, we are unable to provide a refund’
Yes their Terms of Service says they do not refund, but this was an expired card that they knowingly charged. Is this fr..d? In my opinion yes.
Hey, look at some of these complaints here.
What About My Credit Card Company?
Yes, I have also opened a dispute with my credit card company. I mean, how they heck did they charge me with an outdated credit card?
UPDATE – I just received my credit card statement and I was credited.
